Is an oil-lubricated or oil-free compressor required?

According to the International Organisation for Standardisation, compressed air can be classified into various air purity levels (IS0). Before you choose which form of compressor to buy, think about if your use environment needs a particular class of air.

ISO Class 0 air quality is frequently used in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. This is the purest compressed air quality possible, requiring 100 percent air purity. If your application necessitates clean air, an oil-free compressor should always be the recommendation. While the initial costs are higher than those of a conventional lubricated compressor, you can guarantee a clean performance of contaminant and silicone-free air.

Class 0 clean air is not required if you are planning to use the air installation for general use. General use options include the commonly used lubricated compressors which can be found in industrial sectors due to their toughness, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. If you are not sure what you need, we’ll be more than happy to help you out.

Do I Need a Small Air Compressor?

Compressor size is something you should consider. We like to ensure that the solution you choose will cope when air demand is high, but not waste energy. A compressor that is too small will struggle to meet air demands, whilst a compressor that is too large will increase your costs through wasted energy.

To help choose the right industrial air compressor size, it’s crucial to know what kind of flow and pressure you need. You’ll need to buy a compressor with enough pressure to provide the results you need for your application. CFM and PSI are measurements that can assist us in determining the right compressor size.

Not sure what compressor you need?

It’s understandable to be unsure when you see so many different technology options, with reciprocating piston compressors to rotary screw compressors, the choices are varied. We’ll work with you to consider factors such as annual running hours, continuous or intermittent supply of air, and air demand fluctuation in situations where usage is varied.

In some situations, we advise enlisting the help of a specialist to perform an air audit. This will further assist in determining air production demand for your system and provide us with valuable information we can use to increase your system’s overall performance. Once we have all the info we need, our team will provide the expert advice you need to make sure you end up with the right solution.

Applications for Industrial Air Compressors

We find that people are generally unaware of how many production processes and services involved in the making of everyday items depend on industrial air compressors. The applications of industrial compressed air are numerous, ranging from food packaging and manufacturing to coating tablets and spray-painting vehicles.

The following are some of the most popular industries and applications for compressed air:

  1. The Automotive Industry; Spray paint is used to produce clean finishes on cars and engines, as well as to power AI robots used on production lines.
  2. Food, drink, and brewing: Used in the manufacture of brewed beverages, as well as in the packaging, processing, and transportation of food.
  3. Chemical and petrochemical manufacturing: Used for hazardous materials handling, as well as nitrogen generation and process air for direct product interaction.
  4. Industrial production: Air-operated tools and machinery, access lifts, and shot blasting, to name a few applications, are all popular in the industrial manufacturing industry.
  5. Gas and Oil: Petroleum refining, petrochemical synthesis, pipeline transportation, and gas injection are all popular uses.
  6. Marine and Military: Compressed air is used for a variety of important ship functions in marine applications, as well as tactical simulators and shooting range targets.
  7. Medical and Dental Services: Compressed air is used in the medical and dental industries for a range of uses, including ventilation devices, surgical and dental equipment, and sterilisation.
  8. Medicinal goods: Compressed air is used in the pharmaceutical industry for wrapping and sealing drugs, transferring liquid products with fluid pumps, and cutting products with air knives.
  9. Fabrics: During jet weaving, spinning, texturizing, and dyeing, compressed air may be used to produce high-quality fabrics.
